The new Zaffari supermarket, located on Coronel Lucas de Oliveira Avenue, in Porto Alegre, represents a careful and innovative integration of an existing structure with new constructions. The project utilized part of the original concrete structure, conducting a detailed analysis of all structural elements of the old building.
To ensure safety and functionality, reinforcements were made at points where new loads exceeded the original structural limits. This process included increasing the cross-sectional area of components and adding new reinforcements. Specific connecting elements were implemented to ensure cohesion between the old and new concrete, allowing for homogeneous and efficient operation of the reinforced structures. Foundations were also adapted to support the new load requirements, with new piles added to ensure stability and integrity under the new conditions of use.
In addition to adapting the existing structure, the project included the construction of a new building. This building was designed with ribbed slabs and highly rigid beams, enabling it not only to withstand expected loads and stresses (meeting ultimate limit states) but also to ensure comfort and functionality during daily use (meeting serviceability limit states). This careful approach ensured that all structural elements remained within the deformation limits specified by current technical standards, preserving the integrity and aesthetics of the building. The result is a space that harmonizes modernity with the solidity of the existing construction, meeting the operational needs of Zaffari supermarket and providing a safe and comfortable experience for customers. This project exemplifies our team's expertise in integrating and optimizing complex structures.
